As the third iteration of the Collection Focus series of exhibitions, Stillness explores the un-extraordinary and finds the extraordinary in the everyday.
Presented are rarely or never before seen artworks from the Janet Holmes à Court Collection. Focused on the objects of everyday life, Stillness invites the viewer to take a pause away from the bustle of the outside world to focus in on the quietude of inanimate objects and interior domestic space. Across the span of three centuries, the selected artworks present still life painting, images of domestic items, indoor spaces, as well as abstract interpretations of the psychology of domestic space.
