Structured Visions IV presents fourteen artists from Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Thailand working within the broad field of abstraction who use individually developed processes to explore aspects of colour, form, space and perception. Engaging with formal concerns, and drawing upon the rich history of abstract art, the artists’ influences come from a variety of different sources including the natural world, social data, every-day objects, space, sound, architecture and the aesthetics of pop culture.
Reflecting upon the existing structures and systems within our society, these methods of working seek a space where elements are in balance, offering new ways of approaching and perceiving the world around us. Working with highly individual approaches across a variety of media, new ground is sought to expand the language and possibilities of abstraction.
This exhibition follows on from three previous iterations of Structured Visions shown at cbOne Gallery in Abbotsford, Melbourne, 2023, Five Walls Projects, Footscray, Melbourne, 2024, and Cartel Artspace, Bangkok in March 2025. The Structured Visions project simultaneously embraces the formative process of creating the artworks themselves and the building of an ongoing exhibition concept, building connections between national and international arts communities and audiences.
