This selling exhibition at Holmes à Court Gallery runs in parallel to the exhibition of his aerial photography showing at the Art Gallery of WA 1 August to 8 November. Our exhibition features work taken over the last two years, a large section of which depicts seasonal flooding. Since 1998 Hugh Brown’s photography has become his livelihood and his window to adventure. He has a longstanding love affair with the Kimberley and Pilbara and more recently has travelled to Africa, Papua New Guinea and Queensland. His view from above, mainly from helicopter height, is becoming more focused and refined as he attempts to capture a deeper sense of the essence of Australia. Woldendorp has referred to the exposed Australian land surfaces as the “skin of the land”. This exhibition presents an opportunity to share views of this “skin” from different vantage points not normally available to us. You will catch your breath in wonder at the view.
