Raw Colour

Where Art meets Science – Restoration and Recovery, a Celebration of Life

ABOUT:

Raw Colour is a fundraising exhibition for the new BCRC-WA (Breast Cancer Research Centre). The exhibition was proposed and developed by Tania Fabris who has invited a strong selection of artists to contribute works. The exhibition was spawned from a vision of how creativity assists recovery, restoration, and the renewal of life: for our environment, for our humanity, and that contribute to the continuing progress of science.

A journey spawned from a seed of hope and a labour of gratitude. Anything is possible if you believe” Tania Fabris 2021

Dwelling Rituals

ABOUT:

As part of the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial (IOTA 2021 - https://indianoceancrafttriennial.com)Dwelling Rituals focuses on home and the significance of the everyday. Small gestures, repeated actions, daily habits, the materials and objects of home each hold meanings significant to our being in the world. The artists explore the repetitiveness of housework for the sake of harmony; meditate on the dwelling rituals and traditions of past times; on the connection between home and the natural environment and how the home is affected by threats to its environment. Dwelling Rituals presents artworks from artists across the Southwest, Wheatbelt and Great Southern regions of Western Australia.

Gotham Gets Pickled

ABOUT:

Gotham Gets Pickled celebrates 35 years of the Gotham Studios. As Western Australia’s longest running artist run initiative, “Gotham has evolved into an icon of independent Western Australian artistic endeavour, placing working artists in the heart of Perth’s CBD for over three decades. Hundreds of visual artists have held studios in Gotham over the collective’s life span, including many of the state’s most celebrated arts practitioners.”

This exhibition brings the works of the twelve current Gotham artists to the Holmes à Court Gallery in the burgeoning arts hub of the Pickle District. Themed green, the exhibition showcases an eclectic diversity of works spanning figurative to abstract painting, to photography, drawing, sculpture and installation.

Nien Schwarz, SH 59-19, 2015

This work was acquired from the recent exhibition In-Situ. It features hand prepared earth pigments and coloured pencil combined with cut out circles of a 1:250000 Centenary edition geological map.

Sujora Conrad, Remnant Memories, 2021 (detail)

This work, also from In Situ, was a part of Sujora Conrad's epic installation Remnant Memories. It formed a fragment of a much larger ghostly 'forest', referring to a fragile landscape under threat.
