Australiyaniality wrap-up
The Australiyaniality exhibition at the Holmes à Court gallery @ no.10 wound up with the Day of Ideas: renovation of a Nation on Saturday 17th November. A passionate selection of speakers including Danny Ford **** addressed the history of our nation towards the creation of a better future, not only for our ourselves but for generations to come. The day focused on the Uluru Statement from the Heart as a way to move forward, as a design for the renovation of our nation.

This was followed by a Community Event : Smith’s Lake Wishing Tree and Yarning about Liyan on Sunday the 18th November. This event brought artists into conversation with the local community about Australia’s future. Wishes about the future were tied to a 'wishing tree' and then collectively projected onto the front of Luna Cinemas on the 23rd, 24th and 25th November. These wishes will be compiled into a card to be sent to targeted politicians.

This engaging novel by Amanda Curtin is part biography, part travel narrative and follows the life of Kathleen O'Connor as an artist in a foreign land.

Reproductions of three works from the Janet Holmes à Court Collection are featured within the book, as well as Richard Woldendorp's powerful photograph of Kathleen at the age of ninety.

This novel was recently published by the Fremantle Press and launched alongside the exhibition Being There: Kathleen O'Connor in Paris that ran from the 14th September to the 4th November at the Fremantle Arts Centre.
