My Darling II - Orisons

Monique Tippett

ABOUT:

Monique Tippett is an exceptionally talented Western Australian artist whose artwork is deeply interconnected with the protection of the forested areas of the Darling Ranges.

Tippett makes large scale, abstract, minimal sculptural works out of recycled timbers. She describes her works as ‘small devotions, offerings, whispered prayers for the protection of the forest’. Like altars to nature, they each resonate with the spirit of trees, the shape of the land, the glow of the moon and sun, and both the still and rushing water of her immediate environment.

My Darling II - Orisons brings together a series of new works.

The artists explore the repetitiveness of housework for the sake of harmony; meditate on the dwelling rituals and traditions of past times; on the connection between home and the natural environment and how the home is affected by threats to its environment. Dwelling Rituals presents artworks from artists across the Southwest, Wheatbelt and Great Southern regions of Western Australia.

The Edith Cowan Story

ABOUT

With Fire in her Heart: The Edith Cowan Story celebrates the remarkable life of Edith Cowan, the first woman elected to the Australian parliament. This year marks the centennial of Edith's achievements in Australian politics and this award-winning play brings to life her remarkable story. From her early life growing up near Geraldton, dealing with death and loss to a trail-blazing career as a social reformer, Edith worked tirelessly for the rights and welfare of woman and children. Director Gabrielle Metcalf and Writer Trevor Todd work with a team of dynamic and diverse artists to realise this beautiful and uniquely Western Australian story.

PRESENTED BY
