This newsletter features the monthly events happening at the Holmes à Court Gallery @ Vasse Felix and the Holmes à Court Gallery @ no.10
THIS WEEK
Sharon Tassicker, avid arts worker, artist’s advocate and curator, has officially announced her retirement from her role as Collection and Exhibitions Manager for the Janet Holmes à Court Collection. She has dedicated twelve years to the collection, bringing her vast knowledge, tireless energy and bright spirit to the role.

Over the past decade Sharon has been responsible for numerous artist residencies, major loans across the country and a huge number of fantastic exhibitions, including; her first - She Speaks my Language (2006) featuring designs for wallpaper and fabric painted in Paris by Kathleen O’Connor; About this Place (2012), featuring works depicting places in the south of Western Australia, shown alongside works of Noongar and Yorga artists with their own depictions of the same places and; Kimberley Aboriginal Artists (2009) featuring the spectacular works of artists from four art centres, showcasing the strength, collaboration and expression of community through art practice. Sharon curated the significant Scratching the Surface (2017) exhibition alongside writing the catalogue essay and working on the associated book, Muse, which along with the exhibition offered a small window into an outstanding collection and collection practice.

Most recently Sharon has spearheaded an incredibly ambitious project two years in the making, Australiyaniality (2018). Working in collaboration with lead artists Matthew McVeigh and Curtis Taylor, Austaliyaniality delved into the heart of big questions concerning Australian identity, sense of place, wellbeing and belonging in this multifacted country in the twenty-first century. This itself, is a mere scratch on the surface of an extensive career and passionate dedication to the arts. We bid Sharon a heartfelt farewell.
