DESCRIPTION:A 50 minute work led by listening\, Conditions of Growth is a new collaborative project presented by Ad Lib Collective. Working with light\, generative animation\, percussion\, piano and the music of Ravel and Rossen the work holds the seeds of connection to the things that need nurturing. DESCRIPTION:PERFORMANCES: 4 February\, 5.30pm & 8.00pm \n\n\n\nThis is a new musical work by Ad Lib Collective featuring Wind Up Bird\, in collaboration with Andrew Nicholls. \n\n\n\nThroughout human history solar eclipses have been viewed as omens of pending disaster. Inspired by the 2023 total solar eclipse in Exmouth Western Australia\, celebrated contemporary artist Andrew Nicholls has conceived a suite of visual art works speculating about the disaster that this particular eclipse may have been foretelling. \n\n\n\nYou are invited to join us at Holmes à Court Gallery @ no.10 for the world premiere of a musical work commissioned by the artist from acclaimed contemporary classical ensembles Ad Lib Collective and Wind Up Bird. DESCRIPTION:The Cygnus Arioso Winter Gala is a celebration of our extended musical family\, bringing together our cherished musical collaborators for an afternoon of effervescent music-making. We hear two works of Mahler: first the Adagietto from his 5th symphony spotlighting harpist Will Nichols before we are joined by acclaimed mezzo-soprano Ashlyn Tymms for his sublime Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen. The Cygnus Arioso String Orchestra shines in an expanded version of Wolf’s Italian Serenade\, before again adding harp for Schoenberg’s atmospheric and melodic Notturno. Bassist Oakley Paul stars alongside Cygnus Arioso director Akiko Miyazawa in Bottesini’s rollicking Gran Duo Concertante\, and Boccherini’s 7th Cello Concerto showcases young sensation Isaac Davis. DESCRIPTION:Presented by Akiko Miyazawa  \n\n\n\nAkiko is turning 40! \n\n\n\nFor this special occasion\, Akiko reflects on her life with music; \n\n\n\n“Music\, which has accompanied me ever since I started learning the violin at age 3. And the joyous world of chamber music\, which has been my ever-present guide. So of course for my birthday I’m excited to tick off one more in my ongoing Beethoven String Quartet Project\, details of which are outlined below. But I also want to celebrate how grateful I am for this life\, for my parents who instilled this lifelong treasure\, and for everything and everyone who has shaped who I am today. As you know\, Cygnus Arioso is my outlet for this gratitude\, my creation to pass this all on to the next generation. So by attending this concert\, you’ll also be helping me fundraise for the Cygnus Arioso String Orchestra Summer Camp –it’s my no. 1 passion project and next year will be its fifth iteration. As you can imagine\, putting together a large ensemble is an expensive and time-consuming project\, so your attendance at this milestone event for me will be a great support.“ \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDate: Sunday\, 10 November
