Current Exhibitions
Trevor Richards, Through and Under, 2018

Concrete E X P A N D E D is reimagined for the Holmes à Court Gallery @ no. 10, to show most of the works that were in the original exhibition at the Holmes à Court Gallery @ Vasse Felix and supplement these with a new site specific work by Jennifer Cochrane and new works from Joshua Webb.

Concrete E X P A N D E D considers the effects of colour, design, pattern and shape through works of geometric abstraction. It takes part in a conversation about an ongoing artistic concern with Minimalist and Concrete Art in the new millennium. It playfully suggests an expansion of the genre of Concrete Art that initially had a vibrant local explosion on the streets of Fremantle in the early 2000’s.

Included are both works from the Janet Holmes à Court Collection and works from invited artists available for purchase. See our exhibitions website for details -

The gallery is currently closed given the recent restrictions. The best way to experience the exhibition at present is through our dedicated website displaying all the works in the exhibition.

Other News - Recent Acquisitions
Miriam Stannage, History of Photography, 1974

We are thrilled to have recently acquired this piece for the Janet Holmes à Court Collection - a classic painting by renowned Western Australian artist Miriam Stannage. This work is from the “Kodak Slide” series. At its centre, is a window of criss-crossed writing as quoted from the text The History of Photography. Today it is a nostalgic throw back to a time when analogue photography was so central to documenting our lives.
Yuko Takahashi, Migration, 2019 (detail)

As a welcome addition to the sculptural holdings of the collection, this piece was acquired from Sculpture at Bathers, 2020. It is a exquisite flock of cranes meticulously folded out of copper. As a symbol of flight in numbers it is a fitting contrast to the current global state of stasis and isolation.
